About Us
Est. 2017 - Horsforth, Leeds
Brewed with purpose.
Rooted in community.
We started in a garage. We're still driven by the same idea that got us here: make beer worth drinking, for people worth knowing.
It started in a garage in Horsforth
In 2017, Mark Costello did what a lot of home brewers dream about but few actually do: he started a brewery. After a few years of success, he quit the day job and went full time. No big investor backing. No grand plan. Just good beer, a small space, and a belief that a community deserved a local brewery it could be proud of.
It wasn't easy. Self-employment landed in the first week of lockdown; the early years were scrappy and honest - the kind of story that shapes a business's character. Today, Horsforth Brewery is producing award-winning beers for pubs, bars, restaurants and beer lovers across Yorkshire. We're still independent. Still in Horsforth. And still driven by exactly the same thing we were back then.
Doing the right things
We're not chasing volume or trends. We make beers we're genuinely proud of and what we like to drink.
The right way
Independent, transparent and honest. No shortcuts. Fair to our staff, our suppliers, and our community.
Together
We are part of the community. The taprooms exist to bring people together - regulars, newcomers and everyone in between.
Horsforth Taproom
More than just somewhere to drink
The taproom has become something we're genuinely proud of - part local, part event space, part hidden gem. It's the physical heart of everything we do. When you come in, you're not just buying a pint. You're part of the place.
Ten keg lines, three cask ales, wines and a seasonal cocktail menu; plus a room that's hosted comedy nights, live music, beer festivals and more. Whatever's on, there's always a reason to stop by.

New in 2026 - Ilkley
Fuggle & Golding
In early 2026 we took on Fuggle & Golding in Ilkley - a bar with great bones that needed the right people to bring it back to life. It's the next chapter of the same story: a proper independent bar, done properly, rooted in its community.
Named after two of Britain's most beloved hop varieties, it's a place built for people who care about what's in their glass - and who to share it with.
