Taproom Manager Job Description

 

 

Hours: Up to 48 per week (will include weekends and bank holidays)

Hours of work will be between 12:00 - 00:00

 

Location: Horsforth Brewery, 143 New Road Side, Horsforth, Leeds, LS18 4QD

 

Salary: £10 per hour, paid monthly

Horsforth Brewery is run by innovative brewer Mark Costello supplying the local Horsforth and wider Leeds areas with tasty, vegan-friendly beers. Starting as a part-time project in Mark's garage back in 2017, the brewery progressed to its own unit in 2018 and is now looking to open its taproom space for 2021.

 

This is a hands-on role, which is suited to someone passionate about craft beer who can lead by example to help create a welcoming, accessible space in the brewery for the community to visit, and as Horsforth Brewery grows, the team will increase so there may be staff to manage, too. The hours will be a minimum of 30 per week.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage the taproom and serve customers, making sure the space is clean, tidy, and welcoming at all times
  • Ensuring health and safety policies and risk assessments are adhered to by customers and any bar staff
  • Recording of accidents and other incidents
  • Keeping records of refusals
  • Use the EPOS system and adding/removing products from the till database
  • Cash handling, including banking 
  • Stock control of Horsforth and guest beers, plus supplementary products (gin, wine, snacks, etc.), including trips to the cash & carry
  • Opening and closing the taproom
  • Cellar management - including beer lines and general cleaning
  • Maintaining stock levels for the on-site brewery shop
  • Create, oversee, and run events at the brewery (tap takeovers, seasonal events, etc.)
  • Identify opportunities for the brewery to work with the local community more

 

Skills / Qualifications: 

 

  • Proven experience of running a bar
  • Personal License
  • Driver’s License
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Passionate about beer
  • Great customer service and communication skills
  • Confident talking to a wide range of different customers about beer and other products stocked
  • Ability to work on your own as well as part of a team
  • Permission to work in the UK
